"The provision in the school's Nursery and Reception classes is a real strength. There is a very well-designed curriculum in place that sequences clearly the knowledge children need. The curriculum forms the building blocks for further learning across the school. For instance there is a strong focus on children's communication, vocabulary, social and emotional development. Leaders effectively adapt the curriculum around children's varying needs and starting points.

Staff develop children's emotional knowledge well. Staff teach children how to 'try again' and be resilient with their endeavours. Children play well, sharing resources and taking turns. Children grow in confidence and independence. Children love learning and the books they share in class. They are happy, safe and well looked after.

Staff form close, effective partnerships with children and their families. They take time to learn about children's backgrounds, needs and interests. As a result, adults support children very well. Teaching is highly effective. Accurate checks ensure that adults know what help children need and when. Staff expertly support children through talk and play. They pose well-considered questions which enable children to build their knowledge effectively. By the end of the Reception Year, children achieve well across all areas of the curriculum and are more than ready for Year 1."

Welcome to Buntingford First School!

At Buntingford First School, we are thrilled to welcome local families into our warm and nurturing community. Our school is a place where every child is valued, encouraged, and given the support they need to grow, learn, and flourish.

We understand that the early years are a crucial time in a child’s development. It is during these foundational years that children begin to build a love for learning, develop essential skills, and form the attitudes and behaviours that will shape their future success. Through a carefully designed Early Years (EY) curriculum, we provide a stimulating environment where curiosity is sparked, creativity is encouraged, and every child is challenged at their own level.

We believe that every child is unique, and we are committed to ensuring that each child feels confident, respected, and eager to explore the world around them. Our Early Years educators are dedicated to laying the strong foundations for all future learning. Whether it's through imaginative play, hands-on activities, or collaborative learning experiences, our aim is to make sure that each child develops a love of learning that will stay with them for life.

At Buntingford First School, we recognise the importance of working closely with families. We understand that parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child's development and success. By fostering strong partnerships with families, we create a supportive environment where children can thrive. We are committed to open communication, regular updates, and a collaborative approach to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

Together, we can build a strong foundation for your child's future and create a school experience that is both enriching and inspiring. We look forward to partnering with you and your child to make their journey with us both memorable and successful.

Welcome to Buntingford First School – where every child’s learning journey begins!
